poor karlee

Thursday had started out to be such a great day.  As I was leaving Walmart at about 3:15 my cell phone rings and it's Karlee, well her phone anyway.  A nurse is on her phone in a little bit of a panic.  Karlee had broken her wrist.  Poor girl.  I could hear her crying through the phone.  They ask if I can come get her soon or have them call an ambulance.  I told them I would be there in 20-30 minutes.  I don't think she liked my answer.  I hurried home, dropped off groceries, dropped the boys at some amazing friends and I headed to the school.  It was 30 minutes, I was surprised.  They had her all wrapped up and in a wheelchair  when I arrived.

Evidently the tennis team was waiting for the bus to go to their game and Karlee was talking with some girls when another girl came up and scared them.  They all jumped and started running.  Karlee stumbled and her wrist and her friends foot collided.  She fell to the ground and remembers seeing her wrist looking like a W.  Kind of "squiggly" she says.

This is a first for us, a broken arm that is.  We weren't sure where to go so we headed to the ER where Brian met us.

Karlee would not look at it.  :(  She could only move her thumb and pointer finger.
The xray on the left only shows a possible hairline.  But the second, this is why more than one xray is needed, shows just how bad it is.  Karlee said she didn't need the xray to tell her was broken.  Just looking at it at school and she knew.

Karlee was in lots of pain before they gave her morphine.  After the "surgery", they had to sedate her to manipulate her bones back into place, she was very loopy.  It was hilarious!  She would ask the same question about every 3 or 4 minutes.  She kept floppy her head all over the place.  Most of the nurses were laughing with us.  As she was being rolled out she started sing a song from "The Sound of Music".  Can you guess which one?

So long. Farewell...   :D
Everyone gathered to hear her story. :)

Today she is doing much better.  In fact, she's kind of bored being at home.  Still having some pain but tolerable.

My little brother, Richard, just happened  to be here Wednesday and Thursday evening for work.  It was great catching up.  I guess Thursday night the boys went swimming, Richard, Carson, Mason, and Adam.  Bailee put her suit on pretending like she was tough...she's not.  The water was 68....brrr.

My boys think he's the greatest.  Richard has convinced Carson that we need to visit him now.  I would love to...someday.  Thanks Rich for being such a great uncle and brother.
