1940 census

My sister, Brenda, sent me an email today with some interesting info about my grandparents.

"If you go to www.1940census.archives.gov it has some pretty cool stuff to look at.  It is kind of like a scavenger hunt.  I found Dad’s family in the state of Idaho, enumeration district 33-9, Image 3 of 14.  Dad is listed as 8 months old.  It shows Grandpa Steel only had an 8th grade education and his farm was worth $2000.  They misspelled the last name as Steele.

Mom’s family (mom not listed because she wasn’t born yet) is listed in the state of Idaho, enumeration district 22-20, Image 1 of 2.  Grandpa Hansen’s rent was $5. "

I also noticed that both Grandma Steel and Grandma Hansen finished high school.  While Grandpa Hansen only finished 2 years of high school.  I think I'll try and find Brian's grandparents.

btw ~ Mom passed away two years ago today.  I've tried to keep busy so I didn't have to think.  It hasn't worked very well for me.  All day long the only thing I've wanted to do is go hide somewhere and fall apart. :(

I'm sorry. I was there and didn't even know it was the anniversary of your mom's passing. I hope the sunshine of today has made the missing a little better.
Hugs!

I'm sorry I wasn't paying attention. I know how hard those anniversaries are. Wish I would have called and we could have cried together. We love you
