cross over

For pack meeting in June Mason and Eli crossed over to Boy Scouts.  Mason also earned his Arrow of Light Award.  He was so very excited for this pack meeting.

Now Boy Scouts gets serious.  He has some great leaders.  I believe his first camp out is planned for August.  Way to go Mason!! You worked very hard to earn these awards.  Keep it up.  You're on your way to earning your Eagle.

end of year

This year the end of year awards were held in their classrooms, which I enjoyed more.  Carson had such a great year.  His teacher is amazing.  She lives in our neighborhood and has been a friend for years.

Carson is such a smartie! And loves to make his friends laugh!  He wasn't the class clown but I'm sure he tied for 2nd.  There were many boys wanting that recognition.
Mason had more of a graduation.  All the 5th graders in the cafeteria with a speaker.  I think the speaker kept their attention.  He had 3 things the students should do.  1. Enjoy everyday  2. Take control of your learning  3. Be yourself.  This is great advice for ALL!

On the last day of school the 5th graders played dodge ball.  First against each class then against their parents!  I played too.  It was fun.  My arm sure hurt by the time we were finished playing 5 games.

Carson's class was a little crazy.  They had sundaes then went outside for a water fight.

As per tradition they held the 5th grade clap out.  I'm not ready for Mason to be a 6th grader.  He's ready though.  He's a very good student.  His best subjects are math and science.  He also had perfect attendance.  Which he loved!

family run

On June 1st the boys and Bailee did a mile run.

We three ran a 5K.  This was Karlee and McKinzie's first timed run.  I loved having the family run with me.  I hope there's many more in the future.

bailee's awards

I'm so far behind.  I didn't know where to pick up again.  I guess I'll start where I left off...at the end of the school year.

This was taken at Senior Awards Night.  Bailee was being a little ornery and didn't want to dress up.  Very few students were in jeans but she didn't care.
This is at Seminary Graduation.  Four, super early, years of learning from the Bible, Book of Mormon, and Doctrine & Covenants.  She truly enjoyed Seminary. We're so very proud of her.
 Her big day finally arrived!!

The picture above she is lining up to receive her diploma.  The one below she has it in her hands!! YAY BAILEE!!!

Bailee we are so very excited for you.  You are an amazing daughter!  We love you!!

another year older

I've really been slacking, plus I've been kinda busy.  But... I'm not about to miss this day! McKinzie turned 22 today!  WOW!!! It's crazy to think I have a 22 year old.  At the same time it's crazy to think I have two grand kids.

She has been such a blessing in our lives (a challenge too). As she's become a wife she's finding out she's more like me than she wants to admit.  I love it!!

McKinzie and I went to a viewing tonight. (Ariel's grandma passed away.) Since it was the two of us I took her out to dinner.  She chose Fuzzy's Taco Shop.  My third time and it was super delicious!  WE have so much fun together.  (I hope she feels the same.)  We can laugh and share our frustrations and talk as we would with our friends.  She has become one of my best friends.  I hope it will always be that way.

Some time ago she mentioned she wanted a pillow to go on her bed.  She wanted it to match some blocks to tie her room together.  I arranged with Geoff to get the block during the day to go buy fabric.  The back of the pillow is what I matched and on the front I embroidered New York since that is where Brian and I took her for her Senior trip.  I hope my kids like these kinds of gifts.  I've really enjoyed sewing/embroidering.

22 things about McKinzie:
  1. She has a testimony of Jesus Christ.
  2. She loves Geoff.
  3. She loves her kids.
  4. Her favorite superhero is STILL Batman.
  5. She has started running.  I don't know if she likes it though.
  6. Her driving record has improved.
  7. Once her bed is made she doesn't want anyone to sit on it.  That one has been passed down a few generations.  :-)
  8. She has learned to budget and save money.
  9. She has become a great cook.
  10. Her homemaking skills have finally kicked in.
  11. She will do anything for a friend.
  12. She's learned how to keep thoughts to herself to avoid a fight.
  13. She asks for advice from her parents! And sometimes listen to it.
  14. Her siblings look up to her.
  15. She brags about her husband when he thinks it's no big deal.
  16. She has great hair.
  17. She loves kids.
  18. She's become an amazing pet sitter.
  19. She's learning patience.
  20. She wants to do good.
  21. She's generous with her time and money.
  22. She's a wonderful daughter.
I love you McKinzie!! I hope you've had a great day (even though you had to work).  ;0)

boys field day

Field day was very different this year.  Usually a group of kids, usually the class, would move around from station to station. Stay at every station for 10 minutes or so.  At the end it would be the tug of war.

This year three grades at a time, in matching t-shirts, ran wild!! It was a free for all!  I'm not sure I liked it.  The boys did have fun though.

color run

These 3 did a 5K color run a few weeks ago.  I had considered until I found out it would cost $45.  I had just signed up for a 5K for $15.  I couldn't justify the cost.l
They had a blast!  Color was everywhere!
I'm running a 5K on Saturday with Karlee and hopefully McKinzie (if she ever signs up).  Bailee and the boys are going to do the 1 mile fun run.

I'm excited that my family is starting to join me.  I still love it!

karlee

  •  Karlee has 4 AP classes.  I'm surprised the homework that she is still getting.  This one was cool.  It's a coat of arms.
~ red ~ warrior (I fight for who I am)
~ blue ~ truth (I always try to be honest)
~ white with black spots ~ justice and dignity (I have dignity and work to make things fair)
~ snowflake ~ I am the third daughter
~ theatre masks ~ I am animated and dramatic at times (I also love the theatre)
~ swan ~ music (I can't live with out my music)
~ eagle ~ freedom and strength (I am the strong one for most of my friends and I've always wanted to spread my metaphorical wings and be free)

~ nest/eggs ~ family (I always come back to my family and I don't know where I'd be without them)

She also had a Romeo and Juliet project.  She made a crossword puzzle, a children's book with illustrations, a board game (she used Candy Land). Plus she made two Italian recipes that had to have some history to them.  So after school the boys would swim and Karlee would work on more homework. :(

The Young Woman had a fundraiser washing windows.  I didn't sign up so I told Karlee I would pay her to clean a few of my windows.  She couldn't reach from the ladder so she climbed/fell into the shrubs.  She did a great job but her legs had lots of scratches from the shrubs,

Awards, awards, awards!  That's what May is all about. And field trips.  ;)  Karlee was nominated for Freshman class favorite.  Which means she got a new dress, and jacket, and shoes.  She was very excited!  She didn't think she would win but was very pleased she was in the top 5.  She looked beautiful as always!
