reading

This is a wonderful sight.  All of the kids are reading, without any encouragement.  (I know Karlee is actually on her phone, she just put her iPod down to text.  She has books on her iPod.)

This last week we made a quick run to the library.  Now everybody has something to do when they get a little bored.   Carson loves books!  I've never had a Kindergartener take books on quick drives to read.  I hope he loves books all his life.  I hope that for all my kids.  :)

summer fun

We are in full swing with summer.  Mason has one more day of C4K, and Carson had his last baseball game on Saturday.  We are swimming, most days, 3 times a day.  That's new for us.  The kids are loving the pool, with our without friends.

The other day I was feeling a little sad that we didn't have a family trip planned.  The kids are busy with camps, Brian has a brothers weekend in July, and I have a sisters weekend in August.  As I was sharing this with Brian we decided to go to the beach in Alabama.  I'm very excited.  I've booked a condo for 3 nights right on the beach.  We were hoping to get a beach house, but they rent out only a week at a time.  We'll be going the end of July.  Wahoo!!  Someplace new!

more baseball

Monday evening Carson had a make-up game due to field being too wet.  His games are played in the morning so this game was very hot.  Karlee and Becca weren't into the game at all.  :)

Carson was soo excited at this game.  This was the first time he hit the ball without using the tee.  Just before the game I talked to him about his swing.  Helping him to swing a little different.  After he made it around the bases he came running over super excited that what I told him worked.  Tonight we went out and hit the ball some more.  His last game is Saturday.   Hopefully he won't have to use the tee.  Way to go Carson!!!

girls camp

Last week Bailee and Karlee spent 3 1/2 days at Lone Oak Ranch for camp.  Brian and I were able to spend Friday night with the girls from our Ward.  It was an enjoyable evening.  The testimony meeting had a strong feeling of the Spirit.  The girls, and leaders, testimonies were touching.

We sure missed these two girls.  :)
All the YCL's are gathering on stage to sing.

Our Ward won the "coveted" Smores Award, this cute piggy.  Congrats! Keep on serving girls!

C4K

Mason, with his friend Ben, started College For Kids today.  Before it started we walked his schedule.  When I walked him to his first class he was telling me he was nervous.  Me too!!

He said he got lost once, but was able to find the correct class soon.  He's taking Build and Fly Kites, Astronomy (this one was not his choice, but I think he'll like it), Legos, and Tae Kwondo.  He enjoyed the kite class the most.  :0)

twilight camp

Last week was Twilight Camp for these four boys.  They are all Webelos!!  I was able to chaperon the first day.  It was a super hot day.

After dinner our "pack 21", which included four other scouts from another ward, worked on their flag.  They did a great job.

They did so many fun things all week.  He made a birdhouse, wind chime, terrarium, leather pouch, water bottle holder, rope, and many more things. Unfortunately on Wednesday they were rained out.  Thursday and Friday they finished camp at a Catholic church.  I'm so grateful they had a back up plan.  :)

seminary swim

Thursday afternoon it had stopped raining and we were able to have our swim party for the seminary kids Friday morning.  I think we've been doing this for at least 3 years now.  Because of the rain the water temperature was chilly again.  But I do think they all had fun.  :)

last day of school

May 31st was the last day of school, I'm behind again.  Time is moving way too fast.

Mason's class party was very low key.  The students had an electronic/ board game day.  Another parent had suggested we have water games outside all morning.  I'm glad we hadn't planned that.  It had rained all night and it was super muddy outside.

Carson's party was a luau.  Then Mrs. Bush showed a slide show of the year.  It was very sweet.  I'm really OK that my kids grow up and become independent of me.  Or so I thought.  Twice in the same week I became teary eyed that Carson will no longer be a Kindergartner.  It really surprised me.
Waiting for the clap out of the 5th graders.  Mason will be a 5th grader next year.  And all the  kids will be waiting for him.

Carson was very sad to leave school that day.  He's going to miss Mrs. Bush so much.  She's having a baby in October so she's not teaching next year.  He knows that she won't be there.  :(

Next year I'll have only two campuses to worry about.  That's exciting to me.  Bailee will be a Senior, Karlee a Freshman, Mason a 5th grader, and Carson will be a 1st grader.  Right now were enjoying summer.  Yay!! It's finally here.

prince or princess

Adam runs around like a little fairy sometimes.  So I mentioned we had a princess dress for him.  :)  Karlee helped him get dressed and he was super excited to have a princess hat.

I think Adam needs a little sister to help him play dress up.  I'm hopeful...
McKinzie is due mid December.  YAY!!!  I'm ready for a little baby around here.

5k

Saturday I ran my second 5k!  This picture was taken after the race at Carson's baseball game.  I was excited as I finished as I noticed the race time was less than my last race.  I've been anxious to find out my exact time.  It was 30:25.3!  Almost 2 1/2 minutes faster than my first 5k.  I came in 10th in my age and 232nd overall.  The most exciting part was my pace was 9:47 mile.  WAHOO!!!

I'm considering doing a 10k in September.  I'm currently running 5 miles three times a week.  I enjoy running.  Although Texas summers make it tough to stay committed.
