A very talented friend, Gretchen, has helped me make a quilt for Harley. My very first quilt. It took me just over two months. I would go over to her house every Monday morning then I would usually have time another day during the week. There were a couple times I would be working on it, on a Saturday, and McKinzie would walk in the door. I was trying to keep it a secret. Mostly because if it looked sad I wouldn't even tell her about it. Well...I think it turned out pretty good. I really enjoyed every step of the process. I've already decided on what I want to make next. :)
It was super hard just choosing the fabric. Too many choices.
I think the back looks cool too! She taught me this cool trick to help it lay flat.
There were a couple of times I borrowed Gretchen's machine. I haven't purchased a walking foot yet.
The hardest part was doing the free motion sewing. I had drawn the picture on paper and I was trying to follow the lines. But it's not as easy as you would think. Trust me.
There are a few flaws but I'm trying to look past them. It's made with love.
On the outside panels I'm going to sew her name, date, weight, time... Basically all the stats about the day. For my first I think it turned out...better than OK. It was fun. Even a little addicting.
